Forums definitely seems to be an easy way to get one way backlinks, as I've gotten several backlinks from various forums (such as Warrior Forum and Global Paw).

Hmmmm, What's Global Paw?  I Guess a googgle search is in order Smiley

I am in Warrior Forum. Do you have any other recommendations?

Bob.

The only downside to forums is that I've noticed that there are bunch of forums out there that do not allow links even in your signature file

I'm a member at Better Networker and use the forum on this site.  It is professionally managed and has a clean, user friendly environment.  Most importantly though, it has a large community of knowledgable people so advice and help is never far away.  No problem having links in your signature each time you post either.  Check it out at: http://www.betternetworker.com  Hope that is useful  Smiley

These forums are some of the best ones to get followers from. Since they usually don't allow personal information either, the trick is to get a user name that you buy the domain for and  get positioned as #1 in Google. Then set up a website with your story and links to your current programs. Now as you make friends, drop a little hint once in a while that they can search Google for you if they need whatever you are offering help with. In fact after a while you will have other forum members telling people to search for you to get answers.

I use a free advertising website that sends a newsletter out with links back to their PR4 blog that allows me to add my comments to the posts. If I use keyword text as my name and link it to my website, I get a PR4 one way anchor text backlink for nothing more than the few seconds it took me to post it.

To clarify, here's an example. Look at this blog post on the power of SEO backlinks:
http://getyoursfree.com/backlinks

Scroll down to the comments and find one made by oldbuddy

This is the keyword I am working on right now, so I used it as the text for my name and linked it back to my personal website.

Also notice the comment Ken left under mine.
